The Bogie Man (TV series)

The Bogie Man had a hell of a bumpy career. Written by John Wagner and Alan Grant, it was initially released as a self-published 4-part mini-series by Fat Man Press and as a collected edition by John Brown. Then Toxic! published The Manhattan Project and were serialising The Chinese Syndrome when the paper went bust. The former was collected by Tundra Publishing and the latter was redrawn and revamped as Chinatoon for Atomeka. The first series and Chinatoon were later gathered together for a collection by Paradox Press, an imprint of DC Comics, who had turned down the opportunity to publish the series a decade earlier. A later story was serialised in Judge Dredd Megazine in 2005.

In 1992, the first story was adapted for BBC television and broadcast on BBC2 that Christmas. It starred Robbie Coltrane, Craig Furguson, Fiona Fullerton and Midge Ure, amongst others, but was generally considered to be a bit of a disappointment. I wonder what the guy who did The Wrong Mans might make of it.
